Too often, outdated floor plans are simply laminated and placed on a wall to check the compliance box. These static maps may show occupants where they are standing, but they don't necessarily help them understand where they need to go next.

Drawing from our team’s experience in law enforcement and critical incident response, we have first hand experience on how difficult it can be to navigate an unfamiliar building during an emergency, particularly when visibility is limited, conditions are changing, or the most direct route is no longer the safest option. A map on the wall can tell you where you are, but during a rapidly evolving incident, people need information that helps them move.

We recognized an opportunity to approach evacuation wayfinding differently and created Wayfinder to transform evacuation signage from a static compliance requirement into an active preparedness tool. At its core, Wayfinder is The Sign That Moves With You. Rather than requiring occupants to stop, study a static map, and determine their next move, Wayfinder provides intuitive, directional information designed to guide people along their evacuation route as they move through a facility.
